Pathology involves the laboratory examination of bloods, biopsies, cells or fluids in order to diagnose an illness that is already present. The tests may include full blood counts, organ function tests, blood coagulation durations, urinalysis, faecal testing, biopsy inspection and cultures. These are just some examples of common laboratory tests.
Because our veterinary clinic has its own in-house lab with state of the art blood analysers, our veterinarians are able to perform a variety of diagnostic procedures in a short amount of time, which enables them to arrive at an appropriate prognosis much quicker.
An independent veterinary laboratory may be required to carry out some additional tests due to their level of specialisation in some cases. Our clinic works closely with IDEXX laboratories and Gribbles Veterinary Pathology for complex cases that require specialist equipment and the examination of tissues/ results by a specialist veterinary pathologist.
